A Shoe for Every Occasion
Shoes are so very important to us women for an overall look. However, while fulfilling fashion needs, they also have to be suitable for whatever activity or occasion we are going to. Comfort and style are a constant conundrum for us women, which is why this article reviews the top five women’s shoe styles for every occasion.
1. Trainers
Trainers are the most flexible shoes around. They’re comfortable and practical, safe to wear to most activities, and built for ergonomics. If you know you’ll be walking a lot, then trainers are a safe bet for those casual days. They ensure that your feet have a proper stable environment, as most trainers are built with a specialised sole that accommodates the natural movement of a person’s feet. The term ‘trainer’ originates from the term ‘training shoe’, which is attributed to a flexible rubber sole. In modern times, there are countless varieties of trainers out there, customised to different kinds of activities and foot types. Trainers look great with a more casual look, such as a pair of jeans and a trendy shirt. They are, however, despite the growing trend to create ever more stylish ones, unacceptable in a more formal scene or even for a fun night out.
2. High heels
High heels are the icons of the sophisticated, well-polished look. Whether worn to a high society gathering, a fancy dinner, or simply to polish your office look, heels are the definitive female style shoe. High heels were developed to create a longer and more slender leg look, while also complimenting a woman’s derriere. They are admired and lusted over for their aesthetic value and ever changing design. There are many different kinds of high heels available. Stiletto heels are characterised by their long, thin heel. Court shoes are typically close toed with a wider, lower heel, often worn in more formal settings.
3. Boots
Boots have probably the widest variety of styles of the women’s shoes out there. They come in a range of height and coverage, from the smallest ankle-covering boots, to the extravagant thigh-high long boots. While boots were originally produced for those working in tough environments, therefore needing the extra coverage and protection, nowadays, boots are extremely fashionable, especially in the fall and winter seasons when they provide some extra warmth to those who wear them. Knee or thigh high boots are very fashionable and sexy, as they visually extend the look of the leg. This is a very bold look, best to use when worn over thin pants or leggings. Ankle boots are great when you combine them with a longer sock that layers on top of the boot cuff. Just like their styles, boots can be worn to a variety of occasions. Their elegant but practical design allows you to wear them to work or to a formal function. Combined with jeans you can also create a casual look with them.
4. Flip-flops
Flip-flops are the infamous look of simple leisure. Most commonly seen worn at beaches, or at home with pyjamas on, flip flops are easy to slip on and off. They are often cheap in price and easily replaced if the band snaps, as they are typically made of rubber. They are a very worry-free kind of footwear, and often associated with holidays and leisure activities. However, recently flip-flops have emerged in fashion and now one can buy higher quality, and higher priced, leather flip flops with extravagant decorations. These are a great look to try out for the hot summer months, combined with shorts and a tank top for a more casual yet refined look.
5. Sandals
Sandals are most suited for summer day trips, when you want a shoe that is light and breathable. For a longer activity or trip, leather sandals are best, as they provide some structure and support yet allow your feet to breathe. The selection of women’s sandals is many other shoe styles infinite. Some have a slight heel, often in the form of a wedge for a more feminine look, while others remain flat and grounded for the more active lifestyle. Sandals are really great for travel as they can be put away in a pack with little added weight, and traded out for some more substantial footwear if the activity calls for it.
